Grove Scuba opened its doors for business in 2006 in the heart of Coconut Grove, Florida. In that short time, Grove Scuba has gone from a PADI dive shop to Miami’s only PADI 5 Star Instructor Training Center. From beginning certifications to instructor training, Grove Scuba is committed to serving the Scuba Diving community locally and internationally with a multi-lingual staff of instructors. We offer all our courses in both English and Spanish and offer courses based around your schedule.

Bill Lamp'l
PADI Course Director

Bill is originally from Atlanta, Georgia and has lived in Miami for the past 15 years. Bill founded Grove Scuba in 2006 and is currently a PADI Course Director. Bill is a CPR and First Aid Instructor Trainer, as well as a DAN Instructor Trainer who is actively involved in diver safety training.

In addition to teaching new divers and instructors, Bill's passion is underwater photography. He loves to travel to exotic destinations around the globe in search of the perfect photo. He regularly writes articles for underwater photography publications and you can see his work in magazines around the world including: National Geographic, Scuba Diving Magazine, Sport Diver, and many others.

David Lamp'l
PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer

David is originally from Atlanta, Georgia and moved to Miami in 2006 to help get Grove Scuba up and running. He is one of the original members of the Scuba Diving family. David became a PADI Open Water Instructor in 2008 and is currently one of Grove Scuba's lead instructors. David has a passion for diving and teaching his students. He is patient and has a way to get even the most timid student comfortable in the water.

David loves technology and he always has the latest electronics, gadgets, and of course dive gear. When he's not lugging dive gear and tanks, you'll find him on his custom motorcycle. David also has one of the best ocean inspired tattoos out there. Check out his tattoo below!

Darrell Hejde
PADI IDC Staff Instructor / Tec Instructor

Darrell Hejde has been diving since 1995 and has fallen in love with all aspects of the sport…recreational and technical. He’s originally from Oklahoma but, as a military brat and military pilot himself has lived in many, many places and traveled the world extensively. He is currently an international airline pilot but teaches scuba on his “off” time. He was trained by Grove Scuba as an Open Water Instructor in 2010 and since then has expanded his horizons.

Darrell is Grove Scuba’s Technical diving expert and teaches PADI Tec Diving. As a certified Cave Diver, he also offers the PADI Cavern Diver specialty. Not yet a re-breather instructor, Darrell has a lot of experience diving re-breathers and can answer questions for those interested. Underwater photography is his passion and his favorite specialty but he teaches over 14 other PADI specialties. If you have questions about any aspect of diving…Darrell will try to answer them for you.

Sadie Gosselin
PADI IDC Staff Instructor

Having survived a near drowning accident as a child, Sadie was not exactly attracted to diving. However, if she wanted to see her husband, Matt, on weekends she knew a life in the water was in her future. Upon arriving to Guam in 2006, she decided to take the plunge and took the Open Water course. Diving changed her life quickly. She bought all her own scuba gear after Open Water Dives one and two and hasn't looked back. She completed AOW, Rescue and Divemaster in less than a year, then spent two years as a Divemaster gaining valuable experience until she knew it was time for her to take on her own classes and become an instructor. Sadie followed that with her Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating before moving to Miami in May 2011. Since moving to Miami, she has entered the dive industry full time and has completed the IDC Staff Instructor course and looks forward to helping as many people as possible experience what she believes is the most amazing place on our planet... the underwater world.

Regardless of your past, fears, or personal limitations, diving is an amazing adventure within your reach.... take the plunge, Sadie did!

Jose Hidalgo
  PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer

José started diving in 2003 and later moved to the US from Quito, Ecuador in 2006 to complete his undergraduate and Masters degrees at the University of Missouri, St. Louis, in Biology. While finishing his MS he was also able to finish his Divemaster. Later on, he moved to California with his family where he worked as a Divemaster for several years. His  Biology career brought him to Miami, where he decided to  take the opportunity to become a scuba instructor. He now  works full time at Grove Scuba. José has a passion for nature in general being a hardcore birdwatcher and behavioral ecologist, but his heart is in the ocean. His hope is to continue his professional diving career all the way to the top. He is fluent in English, Spanish and French and currently learning Portuguese! Voilà!
